    LOFA COUNTY: LDEA BURNS MAJOR ILLICIT DRUGS FOLLOWING CONFISCATION

    In commemoration of World Drugs Day, the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) celebrated by burning over $2,189.73 worth of drugs in Zorzor City, Lofa County.

    Deputy Commander Mosses Martin emphasized the global significance of their action, joining efforts worldwide to combat illegal drugs every June 26th.

    Commander Martin detailed the seized drugs: 43kg of marijuana valued at three hundred sixty-seven thousand three and sixty Liberian dollars ($367,650.00).

    Kush 20 wraps 2 medical plastics street value at fourteen thousand Liberia dollars ($14,000.00LRD).

    Heroin 44Wraps Street value at seventeen thousand six hundred Liberia dollars ($17,600.00LRD), and cocaine One Tube and 12 warps street value at sixteen thousand eight hundred Liberia dollar ($16,800.00LRD),

    He places the overall total as four hundred sixteen thousand fifty Liberia dollars ($416,050.00 LRD) and two thousand one hundred and eighty-nine united states dollars (2,189.73 USD).

    Concluded that the operation spanned Zorzor and Salayea administrative districts, marking a decentralized approach in Lofa County.

    Acknowledging challenges, Commander Martin highlighted mobility issues, citing a lone motorbike for county-wide operations. He urged Liberian government support to enhance mobility and resources for effective drug control, urging citizen cooperation.

    However, Zorzor District Commissioner Paul R Kalama commended LDEA’s efforts, pledging continuous support. He called on citizens to assist LDEA with vital information for smooth operations.

    For his part Zorzor District Magistrate expressed enthusiasm for LDEA’s work, noting recent legal updates increasing penalties for drug offenders.
