    Liberia National Police Arrests Assistant Minister Mike Jabateh

    The assistant minister for urban affairs at the Ministry of Internal Affairs Mike Jabateh has been apprehended by members of the Liberia National Police in Monrovia, Liberia.

    His arrest was made during the morning hours of Tuesday July 30, 2024, following his appearance on the “Prime Morning Drive” show hosted by journalist Kelvin Demey on Prime FM 105.5.

    Making the pronouncement on the same station on which assistant minister Mike Jabateh had initially appeared on, The Liberia National Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman noted that the minister has in recent time issued multiple threating remarks against Montserrado County District Ten Representative Honorable Yakeh Kolubah something he noted needs to be explained to the law.

    The Inspector General Made emphasis on the most recent statement made by the Assistant Minister during his appearance on the Prime Morning Drive talk show where he threatened to ensure that representative Yakeh Kolubah is beaten.

    The Assistant Minster clearly stated that he will hire some individual and make available to them the sum of One Thousand United States Dollars ($ 1,000 USD) as compensation to mercilessly beat representative Kolubah if he continues to insult Joseph Boakai, president of the Republic of Liberia.

    Honorable Jabateh noted, that on multiple occasions the honorable representative has been disrespectful to the Liberian president during his press conferences on social media.

    He said, on no occasion that the representative will not insult the president whenever he appears in public gathering and on radio conversations.

    He noted that the representative needs to be flogged as a disciplinary measure to make him understand that President Boakai deserves to be respected by every Liberians as an elected President of the Republic of Liberia.

    This statement contributed to the arrest of assistant minister Mike Jabateh by the Liberia National Police. He was arrested and forwarded to the headquarters of the Liberian National Police in Monrovia awaiting investigation.

    Appearing on Prime FM following the arrest, Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman highlighted the significance of exhibiting professionalism by ministers, directors and every employee of the Boakai-Koung led government.

    “President Boakai has given each and every one of us the opportunity to serve the Liberian people. It is not a right, it is a privilege we must all be very responsible in providing the needed support for the trust that he has placed in us” Coleman added.
