On Saturday August 3,2024, Lofa County Superintendent J. Lavelah Massaquoi presided over the official reappointment of Ben Gboluma as Commissioner of Salayea Administrative District.

The ceremony, held at the DDC building in Salayea City, also introduced a new city mayor for the district.

The event saw the participation of town chiefs, traditional leaders, women, youth, and local authorities.

Superintendent Massaquoi called on Commissioner Gboluma to exemplify servant leadership, adhere to the Local Governance Act of Liberia, and collaborate with other local authorities in the county.

He emphasized the need for Gboluma to focus on uniting the district and supporting President Joseph N. Boikai’s ARREST Agenda.

Honorable Augustine Chewolo, the representative of Electoral District Five, pledged to support Gboluma’s efforts and advised him to engage more with the district’s residents.

Hon.Chewolo noted that during Gboluma’s previous term, he spent insufficient time within the district.

In response, Commissioner Gboluma affirmed his commitment to promoting peace and reconciliation.

He promised to support the government’s ARREST Agenda and urged citizens to set aside political differences for the district’s benefit.

Gboluma also vowed to work with the Unity Party-led government to improve road infrastructure, which is crucial for boosting agriculture in the area.

Gboluma’s reappointment is historic, making him the first commissioner in the district’s history to be reappointed from one government to another.
