Zwedru, Grand Gedeh — The Federation of Motorcycle Tricycle Union of Liberia (FOMTUL), Inc. recently presented a comprehensive report on its activities over the past fourteen months. The report was delivered by Hon. Aaron Safa Weah Sr., President of the Grand Gedeh Federation, and highlighted both the achievements and the challenges faced by the union.

In his report, Hon. Weah announced that the union has successfully generated a total of LD1,000,000 during the reporting period. He outlined several key accomplishments, including the provision of medical care for numerous accident cases involving both riders and passengers. The union has also benefitted from substantial contributions from politicians, which facilitated the construction of a modernized toilet and improvements to office operations. Each expenditure was meticulously documented and accounted for in the report.

However, the report also addressed significant challenges, particularly concerning border crossings into Ivory Coast, where riders are reportedly charged LD4,000. Hon. Weah assured that solutions are being sought to address these issues and improve the situation for riders. Additionally, plans are underway to establish sub-offices in Toe City and other areas within the county to further support the union’s operations.

Hon. Weah also reported the completion of the FOMTUL constitution for Grand Gedeh County, aiming to promote a more affordable and efficient transportation system.

The event featured a keynote address by Hon. Garrison Gwion, who spoke on the theme of “Reconciliation.” Hon. Gwion urged attendees to set aside differences and unite for the betterment of Grand Gedeh County and the nation as a whole. The program concluded with the dedication of the newly established office.

The event was attended by union members, local officials, and community members, all of whom expressed their support and optimism for the future developments outlined in the report.
