Grand Cape Mount County, August 25 — In a devastating turn of events, a powerful flood swept through several communities in Grand Cape Mount County on August 25, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The flood, triggered by heavy rainfall and overflowing rivers, has inflicted significant damage on numerous properties and has left residents grappling with the aftermath.

The floodwaters surged rapidly, inundating homes, businesses, and infrastructure. Many residents were forced to evacuate their properties as the waters continued to rise, seeking refuge in temporary shelters. The swift and forceful nature of the flood caught many off guard, leading to scenes of chaos and desperation as people scrambled to protect their belongings and loved ones.

Preliminary reports confirm extensive damage, with numerous homes and businesses submerged. As the floodwaters begin to recede, residents of the affected areas face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives.

The communities severely impacted by the flood include:

    • Lofa Bridge Town, Gola Konneh District
    • Gondor Town, Gola Konneh District
    • Bo Waterside, Tewor District
    • Boesan Town, Porkpa District

The Grand Cape Mount County (GCMC) authorities are urged to prioritize attention and resources for the affected areas to support recovery and rebuilding efforts.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragedy. We stand in solidarity with the residents as they work towards recovery and a brighter future.
