Neekreen Township, Grand Bassa County, Liberia – First Lady Madam Kartumu Yarta Boakai officially dedicated the newly renovated Joseph G.N. Gbadyu Public School on October 18, 2024, a significant milestone for District #2 in Grand Bassa County. The ceremony highlighted the ARREST Agenda, emphasizing the government’s commitment to education and child welfare as vital components of national development.

In her address to students, educators, and local leaders, Mrs. Boakai praised the renovation as a “remarkable achievement” and recognized the generous contributions of Madam Linda Karim Creevey, a foreign national whose dedication to the project was lauded as an exemplary act of humanitarianism. “Madam Creevey has shown us that love knows no borders, and her commitment to the future of our children embodies the spirit of humanitarianism,” she stated.

The First Lady highlighted the transformation of the school from its previous state of disrepair into a safe and nurturing environment for learning. She also announced the launch of a new school feeding program aimed at enhancing student health and attentiveness, urging stakeholders to ensure its sustainability.

Encouraging the children to dream big, Mrs. Boakai remarked, “The future belongs to those who believe in the power of their dreams,” stressing the importance of investing in their education. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting schools, teachers, and parents, emphasizing that children are “not just Liberia’s future—they are Liberia’s now.”

To bolster the school’s resources, the Office of the First Lady donated educational materials, ten bags of rice, sanitary pads for female students, book bags, and a cash contribution of USD 2,000 for additional supplies.

Madam Linda Karim Creevey expressed gratitude for the First Lady’s presence and reiterated her passion for enhancing educational opportunities for Liberian children, emphasizing her desire to continue partnering with the Boakai Administration.

The renovation project, which cost approximately USD 22,000, was led by Madam Creevey with assistance from both local and international experts. She called on stakeholders to support efforts to elevate the school to junior high status, highlighting its significance in the community.

Senate President Pro-Tempore Madam Nyonblee Kangar Lawrence also commended Madam Creevey for her contributions and pledged to advocate for the school’s standards and potential upgrade to junior high status.

This dedication marks a pivotal moment for the Joseph G.N. Gbadyu Public School, reflecting the collective commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for children in Neekreen Township and beyond.
