Kakata, Liberia – A shocking domestic violence incident has rocked the New Kakata community as a 60-year-old woman, identified as Ma Hawa Fofana, was arrested for allegedly stabbing her daughter, Malusu Fofana, over a dispute involving groundnuts, commonly known as “granddpee.”

The violent altercation reportedly occurred at 2:30 PM on Sunday. According to sources, Ma Hawa accused her daughter Malusu of stealing her groundnuts. The dispute escalated, leading the mother to allegedly stab her daughter in the stomach, causing a severe wound.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with neighbors rushing to intervene after hearing Malusu’s screams. By the time help arrived, she was lying on the ground in pain, bleeding profusely.

Following the stabbing, Malusu was urgently rushed to Barcolleh Health Center, a private medical facility in the county, where she was immediately taken into surgery. Medical professionals are currently working to stabilize her condition, though the extent of internal injuries remains unclear.

As the investigation unfolds, Ma Hawa Fofana is currently in custody at the Kakata Police Station, awaiting legal proceedings. Law enforcement officials have launched an inquiry into the incident, gathering witness statements and waiting for an official medical report from the hospital.

Residents of New Kakata have expressed shock and concern over the incident, with many calling for justice. Some neighbors described Ma Hawa as a generally peaceful woman but admitted that minor disputes between her and her daughter had been noticed in the past.

Authorities are expected to provide more details regarding Malusu’s medical condition and whether Ma Hawa will face formal charges. Community leaders and religious figures have urged for calm while the police and hospital finalize their reports.

Stay tuned for further updates as this developing story unfolds.
