A three (3) months old abandoned baby has been discovered along the Ganta to Seclepea road in Nimba County.

According to the report, the male baby was discovered abandoned on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, near a town called Gbanlah few kilometers away from Seclepea City, Nimba County.

His discovery came about when two unidentified women who had gone fishing saw him lying down along a river bank completely naked and took him to their parents and narrated the story.

The baby was seen lying necked along a river bend near the main road towards Gbanlah Town.

Meanwhile, for parental care, the child has been turned over to a lady identified as Nelley Jemmie who is believed to be a former employee of the Ministry of Gender and a resident of the town.

Upon receiving the child, the situation was immediately reported to the Liberia National Police detachment in Nimba for proper investigation to be established.

A vigorous search has been launched by citizens of the town to go in search of the child’s biological parents.

Madam Jemmie has at the same time taken the baby to Ganta Equip clinic, a community health facility for medical treatment.

Madam Jemmie is calling on the county authorities and the national government to intervene in the situation to amicably find a solution.
