Bomi County, Liberia – The Divine Computer Institute, a non-governmental organization dedicated to equipping the youth of Western Liberia with technological skills, has held its fifth graduation ceremony. Founded by entrepreneur and humanitarian Mr. Austin T. Molewoi, the institute has made significant strides in transforming the educational landscape through technology.

During the ceremony, Mr. Molewoi proudly announced the graduation of 23 students, reflecting the institution’s commitment to fostering a new generation of tech-savvy individuals. “Our aim is to transform the Western part of Liberia through technology and make information accessible to those in need,” he stated.

Established in 2017 in Gbah Jarkeh-keh Town, Senjeh District, Bomi County, the Divine Computer Institute has faced numerous challenges over the years. However, Mr. Molewoi highlighted the institution’s perseverance and dedication to its mission of empowering the local youth.

The graduation event provided graduates with the opportunity to showcase their knowledge and skills. Five students delivered speeches on various topics related to computers, captivating an audience of parents and community members. Mr. Joseph F. Donor opened the presentations with “A Word on Computers,” followed by Mr. Sampson S. Toe, who discussed the parts of a computer. Mr. Allieu V. Sambolah emphasized the importance of computers, while Mr. Hamidu C. Barrie covered the software aspects. Finally, Miss Vaimusu V. Kamara spoke on the advantages of computers, inspiring attendees to consider future enrollment.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Honorable Adama Seh, Deputy Minister of Conflicts and Resolution from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who served as the guest speaker. Drawing inspiration from Anthony Robbins’ book “Unlimited Power,” Mr. Seh urged graduates to be conscious of their actions, noting that their lives could serve as a model for others.

In a thought-provoking moment, Mr. Seh posed a rhetorical question: “What is the difference that makes that difference?” He encouraged graduates to embrace their journey into the world of technology and to recognize the impact they could have on their communities.

In closing, the Honorable Guest Speaker announced a scholarship scheme worth 48,500 LRD to promote educational initiatives in the Western Region, further solidifying the Divine Computer Institute’s commitment to fostering growth and development in the area.

The fifth graduation of the Divine Computer Institute not only celebrated the achievements of its graduates but also reinforced the importance of technology in shaping the future of Western Liberia. Technological advancements have a profound impact on job opportunities in rural areas, reshaping the economic landscape and creating new avenues for employment. Here are several key ways these advancements influence job opportunities:
With the rise of digital communication tools and platforms, many companies now offer remote work options. This allows individuals in rural areas to access job opportunities that were previously limited to urban centers, enabling them to work for companies located anywhere in the world without the need to relocate.

The advancements in technology have facilitated the growth of e-commerce, allowing rural entrepreneurs to reach broader markets. Local artisans, farmers, and small business owners can sell their products online, creating new income streams and job opportunities in areas like logistics, customer service, and digital marketing.
Technological innovations in agriculture, such as precision farming, drones, and smart irrigation systems, have transformed the farming landscape. These advancements can increase productivity and efficiency, leading to potential job creation in areas like equipment maintenance, data analysis, and agricultural consulting.

Online learning platforms and resources enable individuals in rural areas to acquire new skills and education necessary for various job markets. This increased access to training can better prepare workers for in-demand jobs, particularly in fields like technology, healthcare, and skilled trades.
Telemedicine and health technology innovations have expanded access to healthcare services in rural areas, creating job opportunities in telehealth, healthcare administration, and IT support for healthcare systems. This enhances community health while generating employment.
