FC Fassell Begins Soil Testing for $4.5 Million Modern Stadium

Monrovia — Liberian First Division club FC Fassell has announced the successful completion of soil testing for its upcoming state-of-the-art stadium, marking a significant milestone in the project’s development.

The $4.5 million stadium will be constructed in two phases by AS GRASS, a prominent Turkish construction firm known for its expertise in high-quality sports facilities. AS GRASS, which recently completed Sierra Leone’s Southern Arena, will oversee the stadium’s development located opposite the Military Barracks on the Robert Field Highway.

The first phase of the project will see the stadium built to accommodate 3,000 spectators, with the total capacity eventually reaching 5,000. The facility aims to set a new standard for football venues in Liberia, featuring a full-sized pitch built to FIFA standards, modern seating, and cutting-edge amenities.

Cassell Anthony Kuoh, CEO & President of FC Fassell, described the project as “a statement of intent.” He emphasized that the new stadium will not only serve as FC Fassell’s home ground but also enhance the overall football infrastructure in Liberia. “Our vision is to create a world-class facility that elevates the standard of football in Liberia,” Kuoh said.

The soil testing, a crucial first step in the construction process, involved a thorough analysis of the ground conditions to ensure a solid foundation for the stadium. This phase is essential for determining the viability of the site and will guide the subsequent construction stages, including the installation of the foundation, stadium frame, and terracing.

AS GRASS, headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey, brings extensive experience from building various indoor and outdoor sports facilities both domestically and internationally. The next steps in the project will involve site preparation, excavation, and foundation laying, followed by the construction of the stadium’s frame, terracing, and roof canopy.

As FC Fassell gears up for the 2024-2025 football season, the club is not only focusing on its on-field performance but also laying the groundwork for a facility that reflects its long-term ambitions. The new stadium is expected to become a multi-functional sports complex, setting a new benchmark for football venues in the region.

“This project is a cornerstone of our long-term strategy to enhance football infrastructure in Liberia,” Kuoh added. “We are building not just for today, but for the future of football in this country.”

Construction is slated to commence soon, with the completion date aligned with the club’s vision for a future where its facilities meet its high aspirations.
