The Sub-committee on Culture and Entertainment on the Joint Presidential Transitional Team has begun ongoing activities to beef up major historical sites for culture and entertainment purposes ahead of the pending inauguration, slated for January 22.

Since her appointment to the Committee, Culture Amb. Juli Andee has advanced steps in inspecting and mapping these sites to have a clear plan for entertainment techniques, already being figured out.

Over nine sites have been mapped, some of which are currently being given facelifts by volunteers being mobilized by Amb. Andee.

Among the several sites where arts and cultural performances are expected to take place beginning the inaugural week include, Roberts International Airport, SKD Sports ediface, Executive Mansion, Capitol Building, and the Centennial Pavilion, among others, is the Historic Providence Island, where major cleaning up exercise has commenced.

During one of her inspection tours on Thursday, January 4, Amb. Endee informed the public of an expected exceptional culture and entertainment displayed during the event, some of which will showcase the country’s rich traditional history.

According to Amb. Endee noted that because there will be key dignitaries coming into the country, it was prudent to give these venues a facelift, especially the historic Providence Island which presents so much significant information.

She said these dignitaries would be happy to visit the historic Island and learn some new things about the Liberian culture.

Amb. Endee, who is regarded as the Queen of the Liberian Tradition also emphasizes interesting traditional displays including the Loberain ways of welcoming them among other traditional recreations.

She emphasized that Liberia has a unique way of greeting, speaking, and interacting with older people, which many are forgetting, but the need to maintain these virtues is essential.

She further noted that the subcommittee on Culture and Entertainment will also participate in activities at the Effort Baptist Church in Paynesville Benson Street Mosque and the Monrovia City Hall, among other sites simultaneously.

Amb. Endee said: “International guests will be overwhelmingly welcomed upon their arrival at the Roberts International Airport (RIA), a Youth Concert (Kukatornon festival) will be held at the front of the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex, an export will be held at the centennial pavilion and performances will be done following the swearing-in ceremony at the Capitol”

Outlining the sequence of actives, she noted that the inaugural festivities will commence with a prayer service at the Benson Street Mosque on January 19, followed by a vibrant Youth Concert on January 20, followed by an intercessory service at the Effort Baptist Church in Paynesville on January 21, beginning at 10:00 am, while the inauguration will then take place on January 22.

Amb. Indeed, while calling on Liberians to embrace a peaceful inauguration, also assured citizens of what she deemed an exceptional cultural and entertaining display during these events.

This guaranteed the committee’s preparedness to blend these events with various traditional exhibitions.

At the same time, the Liberian Culture Ambassador is lauding Liberians for helping to give the country a facelift ahead of President-elect, Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s inauguration, especially those volunteers who are also cleaning up the historic Providence Island.
